Copper and silver ionization has been used for centuries. Egyptians used copper and silver containers to control bacteria in their water. Pioneers used coins in their water to keep their water fresh. It was apparent this worked, but on one really knew why.

 

Now this ancient innovation is harnessed in the advanced technology of the ionizer. The Thomson Tech ionizer electronically releases ions into the water to destroy bacteria and algae- which are then removed by the filter.

WHAT IS IONIZATION? The process of an atom gaining or losing electrons is called ionization.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK? ThomsonTec Pool Ionizers function by passing a low-voltage direct current through a anode positioned in the water circulation system. The low-voltage charge causes other atoms of the anode to lose electrons. They become positive ions that attempt to flow across the space between the anode and cathode and are carried into the water by force of flow. Once copper ions are released, they create a natural algaecide and bactericide helping you enjoy algae and bacteria-free water every time you use your pool or spa.  The ions pierce the protective outer membrane of a cell and disrupt enzyme balance, as well as allowing other bactericides and algaecides access to the susceptible parts of the organism. The ions interfere with DNA production and accelerate the death phase.  In addition, the enzymatic changes to the waste particles cause them to floc together, so they are easily removed by the filter. The ions remain as a stable sanitizer residual in the water.  To measure the ion level in the water, a test kit is provided with the system. MAINTENANCE Normal water testing and adjustments are all that's needed. Occasionally you will need to oxidize the water to help break down excess organic debris from suntan oils, rain and wind etc. (Using a non-chlorine oxidizer allows you to swim shortly after application.) Water balance is easy to maintain since the ion system is pH neutral. Unlike chemical sanitizers, mineral ions are unaffected by heat and sunlight. Enjoy constant protection providing continuously safe water. Normal water testing and adjustments are all that's needed.
